Dunno if this is the proper forum, so please move if need be...

I remember seeing a thread or two a while back with people's desks.

I'm curious for ideas as I am now trying to plan a desk along two walls in a 9x10 space...

any ideas/suggestions/photos of your setup?

thanks

Me and my brother just built an L shaped desk for his new room. Will try to get him to post a pic of it. It is not 100% finished due to lack of funds on his part. But you will get the basic idea.

JEEVES

cool, thanks for the response...

what im thinking of is down the one wall, doing a 10 foot long, 3 foot wide desk space, about 3 feet off the ground to use as a workbench

then along the other wall, a 9 x 3 section that's 2'3" off the ground to for an L for a sit-down deskspace.....

where they intersect will make for a shelf space for the printer, and the top of it will be the monitor and kvm switch. the back corner of the L in the wall will have 3" cut out of the parts along the walls for cabling to be run down

if that makes sense...lol

nerk, i like that idea you have going on there, I may somehow incorporate that onto my design

edit: btw, I'll be using MBF board as it's cheap as is, and I can get it for cost. a buddy of mine that does sinks/kitchens/etc with corian/quartz/granite n stuff is going to lend a hand...

A buddy and I built this for him. It's ten feet long. Not the greatest but not bad being built from scrap wood.

lol, no posts about the $1 Billion or whatever desk? I was hopin' someone would have a link to it...

it was the $10k desk.. and its very mention is frowned upon.

Its better to refer to its true name of Valdamort..
:D

here is my costum desk me and Jeeves put together for my new apartment...

dont worry, it should be painted soon, and i plan on putting glass over the shelves for soldering, and a test psu under the top with only terminal sticking up...

Here's what I did: I used 4x8 sheets of Melamine (laminated Particle Board 3/4" thick) and had a basic idea of what I wanted to do drawn up in Visio. I started screwing runners into the wall and just kinda threw it together over a weekend. I wanted something functional and with lots of shelves and storage room. Here is the end result pics ( I waited untill I got my 2001 FP's before I posted anything.)

If there's an Ikea nearby, they sell a nice set of adjustable steel T-legs for their modular office furniture. Screw the legs to the a sheet of veneered plywood together, jigsaw to a pleasing shape, then glue some molding around the outside. Drill a small hole for cables and screw a cable manager to the bottom (Ikea sells them, too).
