Hello All,
I need some help here! I've got a good understanding of networking, but this problem seems to elude a resolution. I have my personally built custom PC (gaming, photography, etc) in a room w/ my GFs Macbook Pro laptop. We're both connected to a Linksys WRT160Nv2 router via wi-fi. When we're both connected, we can use the internet in general, but occasionally one of us, or both of us, will lose our internet connection. Typically, just reconnecting to the network resolves the problem. Not a big deal....I write it off as network interference between my PC and her Macbook Pro.
However....
...when I'm playing an online game (MWO, Hawken, CoD, etc.) I will eventually experience horrible lag spikes and drops in connectivity. Why? Is there something I can do to make her Macbook Pro and my PC not behave like this? I find it interesting that it only happens with her Macbook Pro and my PC. If she jumps on the wi-fi via her iphone 4, or I do the same w/ my Samsung Galaxy Note 2, my online gaming is NOT affected. It all works fine. So what gives? Why does this issue only occur when she's on her Macbook Pro and I'm on my PC gaming online?
And, most importantly, is there anything I can do to fix/resolve it? (Beyond kicking her out of the room, which we don't really want to do....). Thank you for any light ya can shed on this problem! (If additional info is needed, I'll post replies w/ the needed data)
