Custom Build Options

Hello. First off, I know I can save a lot of money by building a PC myself. But physically I'm unable to do it. Too bad, because I would enjoy building a PC from hand.
I could instruct my wife on what to plug into what, but I'm sure that scenario would lead to divorce.

That said, what are the best custom build or semi-custom build options available? I currently have an Alienware PCIe machine on order... 3.6ghz, PCIe 6800 etc. A nice machine, but I know I'm paying a premium for someone else to build it and warranty it.

However, I have now concluded that Alienware is a bunch of criminals (more examples of unethical business conduct than I can count) and I want to cancel my order and go with someone else. I really like Voodoo computers, but since their volume is so small, they have a much higher price than even Alienware for the same set-up.

I once paid a local company to build a PC for me for $30. I ordered all the parts and hauled them into these guys to put it together. They made a number of mistakes, sub-optimized the machine and didn't stand behind their work, so I'm leary about attempting that approach again.

So that leads me back to my original question, what other companies do this and are good at it and stand behind their work?

Thanks,

Brian

You might look into Falcon Northwest...they've been in the game of fast, custom PC's for a looooong time...If I ever wanted one built for me, I would turn to them.

Honestly though, Alienware seems to be a pretty good company, if you allready have one on order with them, you should be fine :)

There's always the Dell XPS. Since you're not building you probably won't be messing with the inards much so if there's any proprietary Dell components it might not be a problem for the future. The XPS isn't cheap but compared to say Voodoo or Falcoln it isn't too bad.
