In March I will have around £550 ($1000) I want to go for this setup...

AMD Atlhon 64bit 3200+
Radeon 9800pro 128meg

I understand I need a new motherboard, what motherboard would you recommend for this processor? Is my choice of processor and graphics card a good choice considering i dont want to spend loads of money?

If you read my signature below you will see my current specs, is it worth me selling this old PC and putting more money on buying a new one? or is the upgraded mobo, gfx card and cpu ok?

What sort of money would I get for my current system?

Please answer all my questions, everyone is important because in March is when I will be putting this information into action.

Thanks for any replys

I'd sell it and work for new. New cutting edge + some old = crappy. I'd rather take a pos one then a good and a half bad one. Video card is good if you wanna save $$$.

Looks good.

man r u out of ur mind?
look at my specs
i would love to have a computer like that. if u want jus upgrade to a bigger hd, fast processor and new video card.

Yeah your specs are pretty bad but I need a better PC to play Halflife2, doom and ut2004.

How much would i get for my old PC, if i want to sell it i need you expert people to give me a good selling price.

What motherboard is best for this new processor?

Well if socket 755 is still around by the time you want to upgrade then you have several options..

The Abit KV8 MAX3 is a good board, so is the Chaintech ZNF3, but these boards are around 160-180 USD online so you might be more interested in the Albatron Pro II or the MSI K8T NEO-FSR, which can be gotten for 95-130 USD online. They all perform about the same but have different onboard features.

Look out for any boards based on the upcoming SiS 755 chipset....its getting some good preliminary numbers.

This is of course assuming that the new 939 pin athlons arent in style.

[H]appy shopping.
