At work, they're starting to get me into doing some web app stuff. I have no problem with the programming side but I haven't really followed the development of markup.

So, what's considered the Right Way to design & make web pages these days? How does this whole XHTML/CSS/whatever work together?
 
The "right way" is, by and large, CSS for layout and display. Don't use <font> and <center>, don't use tables for site layout, keep the HTML itself nice and clean. There's several recent threads with lots of links on CSS layouts, techniques, designs, and cutting-edge-type stuff.
