So, since there will be/are folks floating around wondering how their AMD 7XXX cards are stacking up these days, I decided to torture my son's PC and see if it can provide some lower end reference for some of the longer holdouts.
Test card 7870/2GB @ 1175/1200,
I don't have all the current games for benchmarking (since I only buy what I'll actually play) but I'll also toss in some older test games and ports to show how the card has aged over the last few years.
To get it out of the way...SteamVR test came back with laughably bad .1 score.
61% of the frames were rendered too slow. Firestrike 1080p returned a graphics score of 6,465 for the card.
To get some somewhat recent A2A testing for the game I do have (Witcher 3), I used the 960 4GB settings found in the January 25th 380 review here on [H]. Older games will be quick snapshots/averages of short runs I used in the past to benchmark (Tomb Raider, Dragon Age: Inq) and a couple console ports (NFS: Most Wanted, Mass Effect 3). If nothing else, it illustrates how low the requirements for some console ports are. Without further ado...
