Curious question about the 6990...

Have it running on water with an EK block and temps never exceed 50*C in my loop. I had been running the BIOS switch to position 2, which is the stock speeds for this model, etc. Last night I uninstalled my drivers (11.5), shut down my PC, set it to UBER mode (1), booted back up, installed the 11.6 drivers and everything has been going good ever since (with the exception of mouse lag on the bottom RIGHT corner of my screen, but I can live with that for now). Only weird thing I notice is that now my system takes longer to boot into Windows. It's actually normal up until I get to my login screen. After I put my password and hit enter, it takes what feels like a whole 20s before I see my desktop. Never did that before. Not sure if it's something within 11.6 or if it has to do with the UBER mode BIOS switch. Games play fine, and temps are still great, however.

Anyone else notice this? I haven't tried going back to the original BIOS settings. Another question I have is about overclocking. Does everyone simply use Overdrive to OC their cards these days? My 5970 had a custom BIOS that came overclocked so I never had to dick with any software (which was really nice), but there really isn't something like that for the 6990 yet.
 
I would answer your question if I could even find a 6990 to buy. I have like 800 sitting in my PC account but cant find a damn friggin card.

Maybe the Hard staff will sell me one of their cards.
 
Removed the drivers and reloaded them and now everything appears to be working fine (sans the cursor thing but again no big deal). Good luck on finding a card, I love mine! :)
