CULTIC

Should be neat! I really love Blood and this reminds me of it a lot. If I recall correctly though, the developer insisted it is its own unique thing and not intended to be a redux of Blood, even if it is influenced by it (just FYI). In any case a dark, intriguing, atmospheric thrill ride awaits us methinks. And it comes at just the right time of the year 🎃🦇. It will be listed at $9.99 which is very reasonable imo.

I always liked Blood, but I can't do the retro thing. Especially that era. I'd love to see more modern takes on the horror/fps genre, though.

I can envision a really amazing modern version of Blood. Hopefully we'll get more strong modern horror/fps's in the future. I feel between worlds at times because I like and dislike some stuff from both the retro style games and the really modern games. I've just learned to appreciate both at this point. I think they both have their merits.

Played the Demo too pixelated for my taste I mean it's more Pixelated than the original Doom.
Dusk looks better but it's getting good reviews plus the game hurts my eyes.

I finally got a chance to play through a good portion of it (6.5/10 levels) and have really enjoyed it. It adopts all the best elements of Quake, Blood, and Dusk and is very well polished. The 99% positive reviews speaks for itself. The gameplay feels really good and the atmosphere is pretty amazing too.

I can understand that. These retro shooters aren't for everyone. It took me some time to learn to love them. I think I own basically all of them on steam at this point now lol. I purchased Prodeus alongside CULTIC, and it's one of the next ones on my list to try. One great thing about them is they take less than 5 mins to download. It's cathartic honestly in a world of so many 50GB+ sized mediocre modern games.

Amid Evil looks the best of them all imo, and it could still actually use a bit more GPU power power than my RTX 4090 has to offer. I have to enable DLSS on quality mode for a smooth, high-framerate experience at 4K with RTX enabled; otherwise, it dips below 60 FPS at times. That's kind of impressive for a 4.7GB oldschool Hexen-like shooter -- which is quite fun I might add!

Was watching some gameplay from a Twitch streamer I follow. This game looks terrible :ROFLMAO:

Haha. It's definitely not gonna be everyone's thing. I enjoy an oldschool Blood-like game like this though. Blood was somewhat divisive in its time as well for a 1997 FPS. It's a tactical, oldschool shooter. Level 5 was my favorite, The Crypts. Quake 1 vibes.

I loved Blood. The openness of the maps in this one is not tickling me in the right ways.

100% agree.

This game came highly recommended to me by another retro shooter buddy. The price is already not bad, but I might as well wait until the Halloween sale at this point since it’s a prime candidate for an ultra scary discount. :D

For me it depends on the genre. I can't do retro FPS but I really like retro RPGs like Drova
