Hey SA, glad to see you're back into the fray. I too am liking the buttonhead screws, they seem cleaner. But as someone already posted, watch out for stripping the slots. Cool to see you using the corners! Woot :D

ooo the dreaded tap break........heh I've had that happen so many times. Use cutting oil of some sort next time if you weren't.

It's a pain to get those out. However if the part isn't thick at least you can try and grab at it from both sides. They always break on thick pieces for me. I just need to invest in a better set.

Eh, that was a $10 carbide bit.... I wasn't using oil but after that first one, I grabbed a can of WD40 for when it became tight... The second bit is still working great, but it seems to twist and bend a little too easily....

Well honestly, I haven't touched it for a little over a month. The heater in the garage broke down and it's freakin cold up there. Also, I've had a ton of other crap going on in this past month.

you have some serious tools good work!

I personaly would go with allen head bolts, alot more professional IMO. The buttonheads look better but to a trained eye the allenheads are the way to go they are super functional and no stripping.

You could probably find some stainless or polished allen's if you look hard enough, maybe alloybolts.com or some such place....

The button heads are the way to go. You can get allen or even torx button heads from just about any large screw and bolt company. I would be supprised if mcmaster carr does not have them in stock.

Now that's an old school bump. I haven't touched this project in over a year. Damn college eatin up all my time, plus my dad has consumed the garage and I have no idea where he put all my stuff. Lately though, I've been thinking about trying to dig up everything and finish the project when my dad is done with his work in the shop. I'll continue here when I do pick up the saw again.
