Hello,

I am in the market for a cube case. Would anyone recommend anything specific? I'm looking for something under $200 without a window. Also, I am considering purchasing a Lian-Li. In your opinion, what which solution would be the best?

Of the 3 places listed (for the YY cube case), Directron has the cheapest price (by a few dollars), and would be the cheapest shipping to my location (shipping price results might be different for you, though). If you are ordering it soon, I'd recommend paying extra for double boxing it, as it may help avoid the problems of a case damaged during shipping (which is what I'm dealing with now).
 
In order to recommend a case, we need to know what you'll be using it for.

How many 3.5", 5.25" slots will be occupied, what type of cooling, etc.
 
The large YYs have better cooling that most cases, but thats because they are massive. Not sure if it would apply to the mini cube though. I dont like cube cases personally :p
 
Okay,

I will be running:

Motherboard: DFI Ultra Infinity (ATX of course)
Processor: Athlon XP 2500+ with SI/SP 97 heatsink / vantec tornado fan
Drives: (1) 200GB SATA drive
Media: (1) maybe (2) CD burners

Will buy fans according to the case (the more the better).
 
Is there a reason you need a large case?

The classic "cube" case is a YeongYang(sp?) cube, which is large enough to fit at least two full motherboards and a ton of fans/windows in. It weighs a ton, being all solid, thick steel, too.

Oh, I wasn't aware of its size. I am selling my Thermaltake Xaser V1000C and getting something new. Maybe i'll pass on the cube. What do you suggest for a nice case? (not premod!)
 
well how much are you going to move this case, like lan parties and all? because i have the YY cube and its awesome, but yes it is big and heavy. i only go to lans 2-3 times a year so its not much of a problem. if you do get this cube, the extra space with the drives on the other side is very nice, just watch the length of your cables because it has to go on the otherside of the case to reach the PSU, HDD etc... i myself had to get a PSU chord extender but that was only $5 so no biggy. other than that, i love this case and i would highly reccomend it.
 
Wow, I like the 13" acrylic. $200 + S&H is not too bad but are there any other similar acrylic cases that I could look into?
 
Opinions abound :)

Coolermaster makes great stuff, Lian Li makes great stuff, Antec/Chieftec/Chenming make good cases, etc.

The only caution I give other than to look out for crappy quality is to make sure your case has a fan intake over the hard drive cage(or has its main air intake over the hard drive, powered by exhaust fans). Read reviews on the case before you buy..

Myself, I'm using a good quality case from Super Flower, and I just put together a system for my brother in an Antec Sonata(which came with a solid truepower PSU @ $100 total[edit: actually, it looks like it uses the same core chassis as your case, just in black + with a different frontbezel]).

I'm also in the process of putting together my own large acrylic case, to house my current system as an HTPC and a new gaming system.


What is it that you dislike about the thermaltake? Too flashy?
