CSS connection problem... need help/advice

ok, so when i go to view the servers (pings are normal), and find one i like, and click join. The "server full" screen comes up, even though there IS room on the server and my ping all of a sudden jumps to 2000 and wont let me connect. This happens on everyserver no matter ping or how many people. What should i do? I was thinking maybe just delete and reinstall it?

Just for reference, just because there aren't say 24/24 people playing, some slots are often reserved for specific people. So, if you see 20/24 or 22/24, those slots may be reserved for clan members. That will explain one possibility.

I'd say definitely try a reinstall. Can't hurt. I'd also say try the forums at steampowered.com, but I'm not that mean. ;)

Seriously, Valve rarely has anyone who knows a damn thing answering questions, and most of the threads go unsolved.
 
one MUST set the filter to < 50 ping (maybe higher for others...). that helps the listing
