Just curious, are they planning to release CS:Source on CD? buying a game and downloading it off steam just seems.... iffy to me... I mean if steam goes down one day... there goes my game?

Damn... a lot of good games coming out though.... and it's gotta compete with school :|

css will come with hl2 which peoeple think will come out around the end of november and if steam goes down it doesnt matter if you have the game on disc or not...you still cant play (i think)

That's true... I guess I just like having the peace of mind having a CD key and a CD with me instead of just having my purchase history sit on Steam's server

i am pretty sure that steam released CS Source with the ability to play offline/lan, but im not 100% sure that you can play lan w/o being online with steam...i still say F*** steam and its just another third party program that allows for just one more thing to go wrong that we have to worry about

Hmm... but what about Half Life 2? Obviously half life 2 is also single player, but from my experience with steam, u can't play a steam game without a steam connection. So what if I want to Half Life 2 but Steam is down? Or I don't have a net connection?

You can play on Steam without the internet. You will be able to play HL2 if your internet goes down.

You can start it up in offline mode.

Let's just say there are ways around the whole situation, just have to look for the solution, its out there
