i think it might be a dual core problem, but im not totally sure because i downloaded the amd optimizer and set an affinitie and it still does it. basically i play for like 10-20 minutes and out of no where it freezes up and i have to ctrl alt delete to get out. sometimes i cant even get out and i have to restart my pc. i havent had these problems before, and ive had this comp for 2 weeks now. it seems to gradually be getting worse. help?

specs are in sig.

Well, I have a couple of questions:

Does this happen in other games ?
Do you see artifacts while gaming and before the crash ?

You're not supposed to manually set the affinity for ANYTHING. It basically does nothing, and/or causes more problems.

no, i have a shadow problem in bf2 where the shadows are giant pixels, thats another story but if you have a solution for that please tell me but the game runs fine otherwise. the only other games i play are WoW, FEAR, and thats about it, they run very smooth. no artifacts at all from what i can tell.

reply to Mr.Stryker,
affinity does nothing? ok well i guess i wont do that anymore, but i did remember something, i think i installed the 6.9 drivers before any of the crashing started, so maybe thats the problem, so when i get home ill unistall those and bring back 6.8 and see if i crash because so far it crashes after like 10 minutes of playing. the game runs at an average of like 60fps with everything maxed @ 1280x1024 res, just to let you know.

well i got on last night and installed 6.8 drivers back on. played source for about an hour with 0 crashes. thats weird since i havent heard any bad news with these drivers. owell, now i have to deal with the screen blanking out each time i start up ccc, no biggie.

ok well, actually its not the drivers. if i change anything in the video settings, gameplay is crappy and crashes randomly. if i just leave it the way it is, no problems at all. wtf?

edit.
the default video settings it leaves it at is everything max cept shadow detail is low, simple water reflections, and no HDR. if i change anything, turns to choppy performance, and then eventualy crashes. without changing though it is very very smooth with excellent fps.
