Does anyone know when cs:s, and dod source are going to take advantage of dual core?
because as of now source mod only uses 1 core no matter what cpu you have dual core or quad, i was wondering if anyone knew when they are coming out with a patch that will take advantage of dual core cpu's in source?

i heard that it was suppose to when orange box came out, but they still haven't and this would be a great improvement for the source engine games.

It doesn't support dual core AFAIK. Shame really as the Source engine is pretty demanding in multiplayer scenarios.

If they can add HDR to CS:S, surely they can add multithreading support as well?

actually, I'm 90% sure it can use two now...try googling for the command to enable it (i think its "r_smp 1" or something, but i'm really not sure.

I remember toggling that and something else on to get respectable framerates on my laptop, but cant quite recall what it was right now

nope its always been single core use, and there is suppose to be a HUGE patch to enable dual core support, because apparently its not that easy to add it on. i was just curious if any body knew when.

Not really. I know that HL2:EP2, TF2, and Portal use an updated build of Source that utilizes from 1 to 4 cores, but as for a patch, the only people that I'm aware of that know for sure is the folks at VALVe.

To be honest Valve have turned their back on the CS:S community so don't expect anything soon.
