I am running CS:S right now at 1280x1024 with all settings maxed out with AA/AF and V-sync off. I just got a gig of RAM today, and oppose to my old 512MB, it's much better. But on high and at this resolution, shouldn't I be able to run it faster? The game still drops into red FPS quite often on cbbl and office. I ordered a BFG 6800OC last night, but it is now back ordered at outpost. So I won't get that for a while. I am running 4.11 Cats. Any suggestions on why I can't run the game with AA/AF and get good FPS?

nah ur running around the correct settings, gfx card is bogging you down, u bought a good card, too bad its back ordered =/

With all settings maxed and that resolution that is a decent frame rate.. Whats the rest of your system?

Could also be a CPU limitation. The game is a CPU whore. Although it should definitely go higher than 40FPS. Possibly a combination of the two.

It goes higher. Gets about 120 fps max. I was guessing 40 was an average. How long does it usually take when a card is back ordered? The rest of my specs are in my sig.

You could lower your res to 1024*786 and use some AA/AF.

Like, what more do you expect? With a system that is not top of the line, just be glad you can even play the game with everything maxed but AA/AF.
