CS: Global Offensive Beta Gameplay Footage

I believe it's just cross platform for PS3 and computer. I will intentionally sandbag, just so I can rape console kids. Honestly tho, I don't see this game being big on console. However, I think globally it will be popular on PC since its sys reqs will be low.

Why are people comparing this to CoD or BF garbage? CS is the quintessential competitive FPS. No garbage vehicles no stupid ass leveling systems. I've been playing since beta 6 and haven't stopped (other than a few breaks). BF3 is boring and uncompetitive and so is CoD. Too much shit going on in either of these games and I haven't touch em after BF2 / CoD2.

It'll only remain competitive if the modding community is lively as it was with CS.

Things like double/triple boosting, spamspots, timing and nifty grenade work made the game incredibly fun and added to the complexity. If they're just throwing cs:source physics and gameplay at us again then it'll fail to appeal to people.

Ok what? I'm not sure why people would actually criticize this game for what it is, comparing it to BF3. It's a multiplayer at heart, it wasn't meant to be a rig crusher. Enjoy it for what it is. For me, I can't wait for a dedicated console vs PC server. Hahahahaha...

I know I'm looking forward to playing this. Cross platform competition will be fun until consolers figure out they can't win against someone using a keyboard/mouse combo and start making console only games. Been a long time fan of CS. I remember playing 1.6 over dial up. Back when steam was a lump of crap that did little more than lock up your PC. Still load it up and play maybe a few hours a month. It's the PvP FPS shooter that all others are compared too. Hopefully they didn't ruin it and consolize it too much.

I see that the folks handling the reload animations have still yet to fire an actual gun.

If you are looking for realism CS really isn't the right game. :p I know some people like to tout it as "more realistic" but it's really only more realistic than games like Quake/UT/Doom/Serious Sam/etc

Personally, I would play CS Beta over MW3 or BF3. MW was much better ( I hate spawn games simply for the fact of getting stuck on a lame duck team with one spawn point which means I live for about 20 seconds). MW was what I liked about CS and what I hated about MMO's. I didn't have time to sit down and level my character and get all this nifty crap, so I'm at a disadvantage against kids who had nothing better to do then sit and jerk off to porn or play games. CS was all about skill. Always has, always will be. How well you did was based off your skill. I've seen a guy come in and with nothing more than the stock pistol own an entire team which half had awp's.

For those that hate it, fine, don't play it. For those who like to jump in and test their skill on even grounds with other people, it is THE game to play.

Talked to one of my buddies on xbox live the other week. The guy is a beast on virtually any fps on xbox. He mentioned he got to play CS:S at a friend's for the first time. He flat out said trying to be good let alone in the "so-so" category in that game was harder to do than any other game he's played.

I think I'm going to take another trip down nostalgia lane and start playing it again.

oh man...THAT WAS GREAT!!

haha seriously! Can only hope that they offer a little more than slightly updated graphics/menus, and maybe a better hit box system? Been playing since 1999 and it hasn't changed a whole lot. They need to make some bigger changes to keep with some of the amazing stuff out right now.

I still think that CS:GO will be popular no matter what Valve does do it to be honest. Valve should really try to add in more game modes though. I'd really like to see some more game modes such as a CP game mode similar to TF2 with fast re spawning ('m currently working on a mod for this specifically for CS:GO BTW).

Other than that, it looks like they're doing a good job with CS:GO by appealing to the competitive CS players with built in match making and taking suggestions from both professional 1.6 players and professional source players.

That's because they remember what happened when they released source initially... nobody fucking played it. It wasn't until they stopped patching 1.6 completely, updating their anti-hacking database and the modding by 1.6'ers that source finally became a game that was worth the price tag.

I really hope they don't take it too seriously and make it too realistic. If this game resembles UT more than it does MW I think it'll be the right approach. But as someone who played CS since the betas both competitively and for the lulz, and I'm sure there are many others here at [H], we also remember the many times both steam and valve screwed us over =P

left for dead with some skins and textures..................meh.

I see that the folks handling the reload animations have still yet to fire an actual gun.

The range and penetration against body armor is pretty amazing too...

And the bunnytard hop is still alive and well...

ok ill explain, since I used to compete in CAL on CS. This iteration of CS looks like the way the characters run around in left for dead. Looks like the same type physics/mechanics/gameplay. All I see is different skins/textures. So, hence the "meh" comment. Again, my opinion only.

You're kidding right? Lots of people played CSS when it was released.......Source only started to die a little bit when CAL died a long with CGS.

So what you're actually saying is that they share the same game engine, and were both developed for modern computers. I would hardly call that "just different skins".

I'm going to add that I don't want to argue you're opinion, lol. I was just confused by how two entirely different games could be considered the same, "just with different skins". Thats like saying my '87 S-10 pickup is basically a Camaro, since they share the same engine.

Nooooo... for something like 2-3 years the numbers of 1.6'ers was far greater than source. source had some serious issues that weren't fixed until well after the game itself was released. The transition to source happened naturally, but only once they fixed hitboxes, i recall it took them over 6 months to even admit that they were fucked.

The competitive scene didn't wholeheartedly adapt source until well over a year later. The game just wasn't made for competition and didn't have that fun factor 1.6 had. Some competitions and leagues went to source only to go back to 1.6, too.

If this game resembles CS 1.3 then it'll be a hit. Keep it fast-paced. Allow for wallspamming, bunny hopping, boosting, etc. Basically just keep it fun

To be honest I found 1.6 to be shit after playing it and giving it a fair chance compared to source (its probably because I started out playing Source and not 1.6). The movement feels glitchy in 1.6 and the idea of being able to shoot through 6 foot dense walls is weird.

I hope that they make CS:GO similar to CSS but make the hit boxes smaller and give the guns more recoil so that random spraying headshots are less likely to happen. My biggest gripe with CSS right now is that its too easy for players to get lucky headshots, with smaller hot boxes and giving the guns more recoil that should make the game less random and more skill based which is always good for a competitive fps.

video does nothing. i want to feel the gameplay myself to see how well it is

Anyone saying "same CS, tired maps",etc. Doesn't get it.

You know how all those other franchises feel like they have to continually make things bigger and better? Valve doesn't.

This isn't for you. There won't be tanks, 64 person multiplayer or any other nonsense.

This is for people who like CS. I personally hate those other games. They may be good video games but they aren't good games. CS is a good game in the same way chess is a good game. These other games are not. They are usually unbalanced and terribly unfun in a competitive sense.

Well, it'll be a good alternative to COD games, I can say that for sure after watching the video. The pro types will stick to 1.6 and everything will be fine - for all of us.

What everyone doesnt get is this is a real beta. This is far from a final product. This isnt your typical Minecraft/BF3 beta where you preorder and get to play a shippable game that they call a beta. This is an extremely limited build of the game. There is only 1 CT and 1 T char skin, Only maps are Dust and Dust2. They are getting assloads of feedback from people to get the game mechanics right and everything else. This game is designed as an esports game. NOT a war simulator. Its to be as balanced as possible and valve is trying to lift esports back up. Why do you think Valve flew in professional players to test the game in pre alpha. Then went to every major tournament and let those pros test the game while getting feedback. The game is not a console port. Its designed on a PC game engine on the PC first then ported to console. The same buy menu was used in a previous CS. They want it to be a consistent game on all platforms so there are no excuses from either party. The game still uses numbers for buying.
The game is also NOT a reskinned version of CS:S. Its on a completely new engine and the game was built from the ground up on the engine. When the game is released the Netcode will be fully polished unlike source.

To those saying same tired maps.... Im pretty sure 24/7 dust servers is what there is the most of. Same tired old great maps that work great in esports. The reason you see similarities with L4D is because they are using some stuff from L4D. It will be tweaked and polished. The community for this game is the hardest to please and valve is on the right track to try and please everyone.

Things i can confirm:
Easier to wallbang then in source but not as easy and unrealistic as 1.6.
Bunnyhopping is a server variable. Default will be off.
Boosting is capable with some spots in maps modified to allow for it.
Its using VAC3.

Like i said. This game is going to be CS or a mix of CS games. Regardless its going to be Counter Strike with a modern look and appeal and to bring esports out of its dark corner.

I got 2 keys and gave one to my favorite CS player. Here is a clip of him playing it.

A lot of CS haters around here.

CS gameplay still kills. Until something comes around that's better, people are gonna play CS.

I'll admit it, I sucks at CS. Which is why I'm looking forward to the matchmaking feature.

One thing I like about CS compared to modern online FPS is its simplicity. There's no endless unlocks or leveling. Everyone gets the same stuff.

I'm excited for this game, but I would like some new maps to make it into the rotation as well as the classic ones.

People that are complaining about the maps and graphics while comparing it to other games don't understand what CS is all about. It should be viewed as a different genre than COD or BF. I pretty much suck against any decent player that just scrims on a regular basis, but at the same time I get banned for hacking most of the time if I decide to hop on a random pub with people who just play it casually.
Gameplay makes cs. Getting 5v5 scrims going is so easy on steam these days. It's hard to explain if you never got into it. It's just insane on how you can notice the minute(sometimes huge) differences between servers on bullet registry. I hate trying to explain it because this game just makes you sound like an elitist prick.
That being said, I play BF3 more than CSS and enjoy it immensely but it's not really a replacement for it at all. I still play at least a scrim a night just because I'll get invited via friends list. Just sharing my views, I'll buy it whenever it comes out because it's Counter Strike and Valves knows not to change it into a COD or BF because it's two different audiences.

Ah I'm so excited for the mix of 1.6/source mechanics and a resurgence of players into the CS community. CS has been my game of choice since 1.3 but after the cgs died a lot of the glamor of competitive play died (for me at least). Can't wait to jump back into it.
