hi everyone, this is my first post.

ok, i have been playing CS:S since HL2 came out and HL:DM for a little while, too. i took a break for about three or four weeks before exams and christmas. i just got back to playing.. or well, trying to play.

after updating the by steam (required.. and it took 20 min. on cable), i joined a server and tried to play. i joined fine but there was and still is a serious problem. comming off of my gun model are thick black and grey lines. they shoot out everywhere, blocking the screen. also, there are patches of my screen that turn black, white, grey, and a few other colors when i walk around. this problem really just started and i have no idea why.

my system is as follows:
a64 2500
asus a8v mobo
evga 6800gt
1024 pc3200 ram

i opened up HL2 single player to see if that had any problems similar to multiplayer, but it didn't. nothing was wrong at all, not one thing (except for the ending..ZING!).

does anyone know any ways to fix this problem? i'd love to get back online soon.

oh, ps- it still has this problem when i make my own servers or join servers on a LAN.

thanks,
PorkTornado

If you are overclocking then tune that down, also which drivers are you using? Have you been switching them around at all? If you did make sure you use driver cleaner,

no overclocking at all. i've only had the 66.93 drivers installed. i got them in mid december if i remember correctly. i'm running the games at the recommennded settings. i tried them lower, much lower, too.

it might have something to do with steam? who knows.

Did you try to redownload hl2dm, it is only like 50mb. In addition, I think CS Source is like 900mb. Maybe you just got a bad download.

nothing is overclocked.

ughh. i dont really want to reinstall windows, i'll try to reinstall hl dm and cs s.

it worked before, then it made me update it *DAMN YOU STEAM!* and then i didn't play it for a while. when i went back, it was fudged. i guess it was the update. i'l just try to redownload them both.
