So, What About Patch 1.3?
At this time, there almost certainly will not be a patch 1.3 delivered for Crysis. We are aware that this news will disappoint many of you, and we would like to apologize profusely. There is a good reason for this and we hope you understand when you hear more about the reasons why in the very, very near future. Please realize this was an extremely difficult decision, but please do know that we are listening to your comments and are making more consistent community support a high priority.

We are confident that the things we are working on will be appreciated by the community, and we hope for your continued support. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.

Awesome!

What the hell kind of mickey mouse crap is this???

That's really bad PR. Hand out the bad news, hint at the good and... hope for the best?

The only possible good news would be an expansion. Dunno what else could offset them dropping support for the original game.

I guess this also means the fuckers aren't going to make the 2nd and 3rd part of the series either. Game didn't sell 5 million copies so its a failure...uhh ok.

This isn't surprising. They probably have at least 3 other projects at the moment, i.e Crysis 2, and two unannounced titles according to their wikipedia page.

Well shit, Crysis was the BEST fps I've ever played so far on the damn PC.. Now what, Farcry2? ugh..

That's ok. I abandoned Crysis about two months ago. Save for some earth shattering mod, I see myself clearing up a lot of hard drive space pretty soon.

Whats sad is I spent way more time playing MP during the beta than I did when I actually bought the game on launch day and there after. :(

I wonder if they are bringing Crysis to the consoles..If they pull it off with good performance and visuals,it would show how crap their coding was in the first place..Im sure they are going console..We'll see..

They should have just released Crysis as SP without the MP. Less whining about patches then.

I hate to say it, but if they didn't fix the TAC weapon bug, I'm not going to buy anything else they bother to make. I have Crysis patched to 1.2 and had to restart the last level several times to get past the bug. I finally gave up on it and I assumed they would fix it. I guess they're not going to. So, even if they do announce Crysis 2, I'm not buying it.

rotfl- the day i see crysis run on an xbox360 will be the day my wife lets me have another woman in bed.

even the latest pc games that do make it to consoles now are starting to show how 'slow' they are compared to pc's. i bet they would have to cripple crysis so much that it would be hardly recognizable on a console.

it was a historic even when the xbox360 came out, because it really did provide pc-like graphics... but really it just doesn't compare anymore.. again.

I still haven't really played Crysis yet and won't till I can play it at it's max settings.

I wouldn't even need max settings just playable. Tried the demo and it ran like shit. Socking a game that cant run on anyones computer failed and is now being abandoned.

Everyone should go get the orange box and get 3+ games and a ton of interesting mods!

Would they really drop support for a game that's only been out for 8 months? At least EA drops support after 12.

Sad, I loved Crysis. Can't say I didn't see that coming.

Not going to happen. If it was on console you'd either get good performance or good visuals, not both. The coding was fine, the fact that it its playable at 25fps is a testament to that. I am pretty sure the GT 280 or the 4870s will allow us to play Crysis properly.

I am also pretty sure the Crysis sequels aren't going to happen either after Crytek's tantrum about piracy.

They already announced a while ago that crysis is coming to consoles (which one not known yet) And it wouldn't be a straight port obviously. Remember Crysis is very scalable. Medium looks better than most games out there.

But I think this announcement is more related to expansions or part 2. I seem to recall they did the same thing with Farcry patches taking forever to come out.

It will probably be like Far Cry Instincts.

Crysis was a very pretty game, too bad it was only skin deep.

They're likely dropping support because their resources are being poured into the next title in the series, a la Ubisoft and Rainbow Six: Vegas

Screw Crytek. They never fixed Far Cry's problems and now I guess they don't even care to try for Crysis. To hell with em'

i never played crysis mp... but single player under xp i didn't have any issues.... but under vista, it wasn't soo hunkydory

we would like to apologize profusely

OK! I if "profusely" hadn´t been in there, I would have really felt mistreated. Now I enjoy a "well" lubricated PR machine. If you write nice words, everything is going to be good and everyone will be happy ever after...That really helps all the people who purchased this game and struggle with bugs... A sad decision by Crytek IMO.

Oh I´d love to qoute Bill Hicks now...

That's crap. I purchased the game because I was expecting some serious game age.. Hell the primary reason I purchased this game was to get the Mechwarrior Legends mod. The game itself wasn't that great. Hell it took me 2 hrs to beat the last boss.... no not because it was hard but because I kept falling thru the ship and/or crashing. The game was bug haven at release. They don't deserve anymore of my money anyways.. this also coming form a console owner.

can you guys help me? why is everyone saying shit about crysis 1? is there something wrong with it, i just got a copy yesterday?? i haven't played it yet, i am wainting for the g280 to be released.

Crytek hyped the shit out of this game and then they wonder why it didn't sell as well as they thought it would? Wow...I'm stunned.;)

I remember when Far Cry came out I don't even remember reading anything about it prior to its release. I bought that game on a whim and it turned out to be a very good and memorable FPS. I loved the A.I., the gameplay and the setting. OTOH, Crysis was hyped to the max and the trailers made it look like something revolutionary, with it's slick looking graphics and cool physics. Well, I felt the game was rushed, less immersive and the gameplay just didn't live up to the hype. I played through the game only once and was kind of disappointed by it. It seemed too short and it wasn't something I was really wowed with. It needed more polish and it needed to be longer. Compared to Far Cry, the value just isn't there.

Crytech makes an excellent engine, but a mediocre game. There was nothing at all unique about Crysis - the suit stripped away what little they had gotten right with their formula. Crytech games are best suited to sneaking around in the jungle picking people off. Far Cry had that down pat until the Trigens. Unfortunately, Crytech has this idea that harder = enemies with tonnes of health which is mind-bogglingly stupid for this sort of game.

The suit in Crysis overpower the player and shifts the game from sneaking and killing to sniping or assaulting. Cloak especially took away a lot of the planning that you had to do in Crysis. The levels also seemed a bit boring compared to FarCry. The engine was better, but for the most part it was just slogging through boring (but pretty) jungle, not island hopping and snaking a way up through mountains and things. I mean, it wasn't bad exactly, but especially at ten hours, it certainly wasn't good either.

Really, they put so much effort into the engine and so little into the game that the game part seemed like an afterthought. Crytech should stick to marketing engines rather than making games.

With out strong gameplay on either the MP or SP side of things, I imagine a lot of people just downloaded the game to benchmark and look at the scenery.

Perhaps no other companies are interested in the engine? I might be wrong, but was the Far Cry engine every used for any other games except Far Cry itself and the console spin offs?
Have they sold the Crysis engine to anyone else?
Why waste time fixing something that's probably already sold 90% of the copies it'll ever sell?

I hope that was sarcasm.

:D what? You mean you didn't LOVE the voice acting of Nomad? It was totally 5 stars!

"My chute's gone, MY DAMN CHUTE'S GONE"
"Something hit me, what the hell was that?"

That's the game right there.

(Yes I was being sarcastic :p)

Chances are that Crytek spent too much money on making CryEngine 2 and haven't received the payback they expected, much unlike Epic's UE3. Though, CE2 is a much different beast from its specifications and seems more fit for simulation work than a general purpose game engine. The team responsible for post-release development has most likely been reassigned to some other project be it a new release or possibly a console port.

Scalability of CE2 will certainly be interesting. The PS3 does offer the greatest potential in terms of sheer CPU power. However, it is hampered by a GPU that will be 2 generations obsolete in June. The 360 has a slightly more adept GPU and a similar framework comparable to the PC (though not as comparable as the first Xbox), there are some shortcomings. Since the Core system was not developed to have a HDD, the 360 cannot feature some OS tools we sometimes take for granted like swap space or virtual memory. This means that any memory leak in the code may lead to bugs or crashes. The lacking available framebuffer to the GPU will greatly limit the native resolution of the game for the consoles (hence less than HD-resolutions for GTA4 PS3 and Halo 3). If the game ends up being properly optimized for the consoles, which may take at least a year and a lot of QA. The game will most likely be run at the same speed Killzone 2 is expected to run (720p/30).

I've always found this presentation as an interesting look at console (or any embedded system for that matter) development.

Graphics = Great!
Gameplay = Meh...

"We hope for your continued support"?

You've gotta be kidding me. How poor.

I'm not a big Crysis fan, although it did state there will be an update somewhere in June. The post was referring to the May monthly update

So that’s it for the first Crysis Monthly Update from Crytek! Thanks for taking the time reading all this. Do not miss the next Crysis Monthly Update coming to you in June!

On a sidenote

Cevat Yerli: It is certainly. We are suffering currently from the huge piracy that is encompassing Crysis. We seem to lead the charts in piracy by a large margin, a chart leading that is not desirable. I believe that’s the core problem of PC Gaming, piracy. To the degree PC Gamers that pirate games inherently destroy the platform. Similar games on consoles sell factors of 4-5 more. It was a big lesson for us and I believe we won’t have PC exclusives as we did with Crysis in future. We are going to support PC, but not exclusive anymore.

:p:rolleyes::confused:
