I recently bought a crystal fontz 634 lcd with mounting bracket.

I don't have a serial cable but do have the power cable.

When I hookup the power cable and turn on the PC. I get no sign of life from the crystal fontz.

Is it dead? burnt? or will I get nothing until a serial cable is attached as well? I see no damage or burnt chips on the pcb but I know that doesn't mean much.

Anyone familiar with these please post. Also if anyone has a serial cable for cheap let me know.

I have a 632. The power cable you have is only for the backlight. The panel is actually powered via the serial port. The back light only comes on briefly during POST and then again when the software actually loads. The Panel can function and display Characters with out the back light power cable. Either way, you’re not going to see much until you get the serial cable connected and the software running.

I Cutom Made a Serial cable and Face plate for mine.

know where I can DL the software for this LCD?
