Crystal blue water?

So yea I'm rather let down with pentosin g11.. and I honestly don't really want to drain out the fluid to replace it with something else.

Anyone know of any blue additives that will not effect performance that much yet give me a very nice deep crystal blue?

And before anyone jumps in here and with the whole 'search' thing -- I tried it. Honestly. I did! :D
 
one or two drops of blue food coloring, be warned though it will stain your tubs a little.
 
food coloring? never heard that one before. I've got a giant acrylic res that I would have to drip it into. Think the res will stain badly?
 
I didn't have any issue with the rad being stained (3.5 X 2 acrylic res), only the tubing. I had no issue with any kind of build up on any of the blocks, or anything, just the tubing issue. Just be cautious with it, use only one or tow drops, then give it time to circulate through.
 
I'll drip two drops into a little cup of maybe a couple mL's of pentosin and stir that up then add it in.

You can always mix up Distilled water with some blue Anti-Freeze works for me.

That's what I did. Pentosin G11 -- 'blue anti-freeze', with some distilled water. It's just not as deep as I want it to be, and adding more will surely sacrifice performance.
 
Don;t add more Anti-Freeze it will kill your Pump too. Only add like one to two ounce in one liter.
 
Actually, the ratio should be up to 5% of pentosin in 1 pint. 1-2% is ok.
 
I'll write more about this at some point, but I'm having great success with highlighters so far. Currently the juice of 1 1/2 or 2 (yellow) highlighters gives me a rich green, and you'll be hard pressed to find anything more UV reactive than highlighters.

Try a sample first, along the lines of 1 (blue) highlighter with 1 liter of regular tap water (the amount of fluid most loops have). Get to the "ink" of the highlighter, hopefully something that looks like a straw filled with foam and highlighter juice. Cut off the tip, then squeeze or pinch the sides with pliers, cut it open, and mix it around. Add more highlighters as needed, but add a little bit at a time to your loop - they are incredibly concentrated.

If you're worried about them not mixing or settling at the bottom of your loop, I had just flushed and refilled my loops 3 days before leaving for 6 weeks. Nothing had settled while the pump was off, and the color was still bright and UV reactive. Once you know how much you need, just get the juice into a small bowl, maybe with a little bit of distilled water if you want to get the last bits of juice to permeate out of the tube(s).
 
I mixed my pentosin like 10-20% without issues. Maybe I gave up some performance but I have not changed any coolant in over 2 years!
 
D-tek makes some nice UV and standard water dyes that work great IMO. You can even mix them for custom colors.

yellow highlighter works GREAT... blue will not work in water at all (nor will orange red(pink) or green)... youed be better off useing blue coolaid... (dont.. it will kill your pump for sure.. ) food dye or the d-tek stuff works pretty darn good..

i beleave it dosent play well with certain plastics and rubbers.. aquarium pumps are not built to handel chymicals of any type, so it depends on your pump and what its made from. also, depending on what pump you have they may have ceramics in them (eheims) and gylcol will eat the ceramic.. i beleave.. its been awhile..


ohh it also changes the viscosity... it will make the water harder to move... which will over heat the pumps..
