Otherwise, I honestly though FC2 was epic... I must not play enough games to know good games from bad...

I have 300 games in my Steam acct... Suggest me one! Still haven't played Bioshock or Mass Effect or Batman:AA... Think I'm going to wait as I'm just about to buy an i7 system... (Even Doom3 was cpu-bottlenecked on my E7400 before OCing to 3.8...)

(At least my 5870 is now stable on 10.2s...)

did you ever play the original far cry? I like you have played a bunch of titles Far Cry is one of my favs!

Yes. Actually, Far Cry quite reminded me of my experience with Half-Life: It was getting great reviews since day of release, but took me months to finally buy. Once I bought it and tried it, I was knocking myself for not getting it sooner!

And both games appeared to come out of nowhere... Not a big gamer, but I don't remember reading or hearing about them before release...

And no, I haven't played a lot of games. I just own a lot of games...
