Recommended System Requirements

OS – Windows XP / Vista

Processor – Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+

Memory – 2.0 GB RAM

GPU – NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS/640 or similar

Crazy. I'm excited to see how the 8800GT/2950XT will perform soon.

the game will run fine at low settings on most systems but I think SLI might really be the only way to get high to run ok lol. friggin hard to run even with a gtx atm.

If I'm remembering correctly the demo stations I saw at gencon were running on a pair of 8800 GTXs

so it technically would run on my old ass p4 3.2 / 6800gt lol.. I think it would actually be a cardinal sin to play crysis on a low end rig with low quality settings, I won't even bother, hell I'm still saving oblivion and fear until i get a better pc :)

WOHOO! That is exactly what I have.:)

I wonder how my 8800GTS 320mb will fair in comparison to the 640mb version.

i've found in the past that most times even @ recommended system requirements games runs like ass. i'm expecting to have to run crysis at MED/LOW settings to get playable framerates. I know this is unsubstantiated and based off of the beta that is just that...a beta. but i just have a feeling.

I hope crysis accepts with warmth the quad cores and 8800 ultras' with 4gbs of ram.

The system requirements stated by developers haven't meant much to me in a long time. Its really difficult to know how a game will perform based on the numbers given, as "recommended" is subjective.

The beta means nothing as far as performance goes, and i'm sure it'll be a different story for singleplayer.

QFT.

I remember back in the day when my computer was well above the recommended system requirements for Unreal Tournament and DeusEx.

Needless to say they both ran like crap.

I am once again well above the recommended system requirements for Crysis. Hopefully they fix the performance bugs that are in Beta (I know they will/ already have). Else this will not be a very good gamming experience.

The Beta has improved quite a bit but still is a laggy lagfestival of lag. Getting closer but if my sys has issues don't even bother with a low end sys.

No, the beta does mean something as far as performance goes.

Believe it or not, the Crysis beta is Crysis, and it's at least somewhat representative of Crysis performance. Imagine that!

Bring it on, I'm ready!

Minus optimization after optimization.

From what I read, Yerli said that 64 bit OS's, more than 2gb of RAM, Quad cores, etc will all help with performance. Like I said in the other thread, everyone has lost the right to say that the afore mentioned won't help performance in video games. Crysis is arguably the most anticipated PC game I have ever seen (key word "arguably") and it uses most of the latest technology.

Disclaimer: I attempted to word my opinions in the least certainty possible. All statements are pretty much opinion, so lets not get into a debate.

Beta testers have been receiving optimizations both from Crytek and NVIDIA already.

I think people are being led to believe, by pro-Crytek zealouts, that Crytek has some sort of magical, whimsical trick up their sleeve that will literally change the face of Crysis performance, and that the single-player game is going to perform heroically better than the multiplayer component (the opposite is actually probably true). The reality is that one can only optimize so much.

Go read the beta forums to see why Crytek has some tricks to unleash. There are many performance and image quality features that are either disabled, limited, or not included in the beta. I made a post about it a couple of days ago listing many of these details. It was about 10 or so points.

For example, the beta is limited to using 256mb of video ram. There are many others but I don't want to break the NDA further.

Read a bit, this game will perform a lot better than the beta.

Definitely. You can also add in other things such as multi-core and x64 support.

That's right. System Ram is also limited to 512mb. It's all in my list. :D

Here is a partial list of my post.

-Only 512mb of Ram is being used.
-Only 256mb of Video Ram is being used.
-No dynamic branching
-No dynamic shaders
-No Quad core support
-No 64 bit support
-No DirectX 10 support
-Not all optimisations present

SLi in the beta is disabled ;)

Any of you with the recommended specifications won't be disappointed at all. I guarantee it.

256mb of ram on video card? That cant be right i used a monitor tool and it reported a little over 300mb used ram on medium @ 1280x1024.

Yeah except slower and less optimized. You have no way of knowing how much better the final will be.

QFT. I have seen id try to get us to call 15FPS acceptable when working on the DOOM 3 Guide. We were having none of that.

That's right. System Ram is also limited to 512mb. It's all in my list.
According to whom, and why? What reasonable explanation is there for the beta only using 512 megs of RAM, 256 megs of VRAM and not using dynamic branching? Have you validated the two former limitations?

I can't fathom why Crytek would restrict certain features just for the sake of restricting them.

Yeah except slower and less optimized. You have no way of knowing how much better the final will be.
That's why I said the beta is somewhat representative and not perfectly representative.

/sigh... This means that I probably won't be able to play crysis as I want for another year or so :'(... My pc is past the outdated date and I'm in need of a newer to keep up with the lack of games we're receiving :D....

probably not if you have a high overclocked quad core
