Crysis Demo Performance

I can't help noticing some 8800gt scores in there, does that count as an nda breach?:p

Why dont they throw some 7800 and 7900 action in there.
Oh well, Ill have to see how it does on my 7800GTX when it finishes downloading I guess.

On my AM2 system in sig, I played it at 1920x1080 with everything on the 'high' setting and no AA. It gets consistently above 40fps and it is perfectly playable. It looks freaking amazing by the way. I am actually impressed.

Heh. I just played the demo with my sig. specs. The game auto-detected and set everything to low. It ran somewhat smoothly, but some areas made it lag, and a few spots made it freeze for a few seconds.

Let's see now.

Farcry
Doom 3
FEAR
and now Crysis.

All games I can think of in past 5 years that have stressed the current gen video cards to their limits, but were easily playable at max settings within 1 generation, or 12 months of games release date. I'm impressed that my meager machine will play it decently, and it will look decent too. However, I believe I will be even more impressed next year when I upgrade.
Frankly, I don't understand what all the complaining is about. People knew that this game was going to push the limits of hardware (especially from Crytek's reputation), and no one touted that this game was going to be anything less.

I think Crytek said Crysis is going to have a graphics capacity taxing for even the best cards out right now. The very high settings will probably draw some issues. They seemed to have raised the ceiling just so it can look even better as video processing improves.

Hell, I'm so excited about Crysis that I pre-ordered it through Amazon like two months ago, even though I don't have a computer for it.

Someday. :(

Hmmm...plays pretty choppy for me. I'm on a QX6700 with an 8800GTX and 4GB RAM running Vista x64. When I have it auto detect the settings, it puts everything on "Very High" and then plays like crap. Even though I've set "Force VSYNC" to "ON" in the nVidia control panel, I still see a lot of visual tearing. I've turned the settings down to "High" and then "Medium" and have noticed some improvment, but there is still a lot of tearing. I'm not using any AA and I'm running at 1650x1080. I'm hoping this will improve with either a driver update, or final code.

Not really an option, 1650x1080 is the physical resolution of my LCD, and I really *shouldn't* have to do something like with a setup like mine.

Ok, just played through the demo on Medium, it was pretty smooth in terms of frame rate, but that damn vsync tearing is still pissing me off. I just realized that according to the nVidia control panel, when using Vista, the vsync adjustment there is only for OpenGL, D3D vsync adjustments have to be done in the application, and of course, there isn't one in this demo. I hope the final game allows it.

I played the demo on all very high settings 0AA @1440x900, with the new 169.01 beta drivers. Here's my specs:

CPU:E6850@stock
GFX:8800GTX@stock
RAM:2x1GB PC2-6400
HDD:160GB SATA 2 @7200RPM
OS:Vista Home Premium 32bit

With those settings I got about 20fps on average lowest I got was 14fps and highest was 34fps when ducking behind a rock. I hope that this game is just unoptimized because I was really hoping to at least get 30fps average on very high.
