Crysis 3 hanging momentarily

I just installed Crysis 3 and was trying to play it, but in game and even in the menus or during pre-rendered cut scenes, the game will "hang" or lock up for just a fraction of a second, on time everytime at 7-8 second intervals. I've changed the settings from ultra high all the way to low and disabled MSAA and filtering etc, but none of this changes the frequency or duration of the hanging. Like I said earlier, it also happens in the main menu or during cut scenes, so I don't think its an overheating or graphics issue.

I have a stock GTX680 and a 3770k OC'd at 4.5. In some other threads regarding crashing people were speculating on voltage levels and overclocking, so I reverted the processor back to stock voltage and 3.5ghz but there was no change whatsoever. I ran in in windowed mode as well and watched cpu-z and core temp and there isnt any noticable spikes in load or temperature. I've also reinstalled it on a different hard drive and that didnt make a difference. I'm at a loss of what to try next, other than that the game runs fine even maxed out, but the constant stuttering makes it very difficult to play.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great, thanks guy!

I myself have the game...no issues here aside form kinda low fps...but thats to be expected as even a titan cant really keep 60fps a max......have you had any windows crashes at all? I overclock 24/7 but keep image backups 100% of the time....in my on experience just one odd crash can corrupt something in windows....Im not implying you need to re install windows but im just wondering if you have had any other issues?

A consistent frame drop every 7-8 seconds probably has nothing to do with the overall performance the game might or might not have. Sounds like something else.

Are you only having problems in Crysis 3? Have you monitored the voltages and usage of the video card? What kind of power supply do you have and how old is it?

Yeah the problem is only in Crysis 3, and I've been running tons of other games (witcher 2, metro, battlefield) fine with no issues. This is the first time I've ever encountered this type of issue. I've kept an eye on the voltages and they fluctuate around 0.1 volts or so under load, even when I stopped overclocking it. I haven't monitored anything on my video card, I'm not sure what the best program to use for that would be or what to look for. The PSU is good its a 650w corsair modular PSU but I havnt had any reason to believe it was having issues.

If you have any backup software or virus protection running then you may want to try putting in an exception to exclude the Crysis 3 location.

The only problem I have with Crysis 3 was that it was hard on my GPU OC so I had to drop my core OC a bit, CPU OC wasn't a problem.
