Rarely anyone is going to take you up on that due to the scamming going around. If you are US based, sign up at coinbase, transfer money into to BTC then head over to cryptsy and buy what you want with the BTC.
but i'm non-us
that's why i'm looking to services that accept paypal
i found virwox but it looks like i lose for every currency conversion (usd -> sll -> coins -> sll -> usd)
there is no service that I know that you can buy crypto coins with paypal as paypal is a medium of exchange, not the actual currency in the process, so, take the small transaction fee i.e euro to btc then sell the btc, if you sell it at the right exchange in the right place you can easily make your coin back, and if you bounce the coin around inside the exchange almost like a stock you can easily make more.
BTC-E
Cryptsy
CoinEX
Vircurex
weexchange.co
there is many to choose from, there is always a fee unless you buy directly with paypal, oh wait, there is always a fee from paypal to the vendor in question no matter if direct purchase or exchanges really.
If you are trying to buy BTC via paypal then the seller is taking way more risk than you. Even if you gift via paypal to the seller you can do a credit card charge back, and the seller will be out BTC and USD while you walk away with both.
If you are willing to use amazon payments you would have a better chance since as far as I know they just tell people to get bent when they want to charge back for transactions outside of amazon. This of course increases your risk, but if the seller is trustworthy and has a high heat you should be fine.
As others suggest, do your due diligence, hand-shaking, hell exchange phone numbers to minimize risk to both parties. Isn't there a website for escrow services? Basically just trusted middle-men who hold the BTC and USD and does the exchange. Some charge a fee, others just accept tips. I will try to find the website.
I'm sure you could open a WTB thread and offer to mail out cash or a USPS money order in exchange for crypto at an agreed upon exchange rate, but there are too many risks and issues with using PayPal imo so I'm not sure how many offers you would get here.
e-mail money transfer for the coins, when have coins or when have cash send the other out, neither of which can be outright called back as they were self initiated require password and so forth.
you do realize in one aspect that the hardware if its sole purpose was for mining has a continual cost to operate to generate so in a very real aspect if OP really thinks about which coin(s) to invest in, that ends up being the highest possible chance of return on the $ spent.
Mining generates coins obviously, but to compete you need a very good rig, or ASICS to make it worth the cost, $100 in coins as an example does not get crap for a mining rig really, and even if it did, it would take a long time for that $100 to be made back with the likely card purchased for that price, that same $100 in coin(s) that have proven a quite stable history say PPC not much up/down if one watches how they trade then this $100 multiplies.
It can go both ways, but reality is, many of these coins are not disappearing overnight, where many rigs are extremely expensive to get into AND what will folks do when its no longer worth using these rigs to do this, there is going to be millions of cards that folks want a good ROI still, double edged sword at its finest.
