crucial m500

They were available on Newegg yesterday and this morning. Out of stock atm.

I definitely like the idea of a 960GB SSD at that price even if it isn't the absolute fastest one around.

I think these drives will become incredibly popular if no serious reliability issues crop up. There are many storage vendors using X25m and Intel 320 drives for hybrid storage arrays, web hosting, etc. I'd bet on the M500 being likely upgrades. With that much flash on board you could leave an obscene amount of spare flash and still justify the cost.
I'd have no problem sticking these in a server with 40%+ spare area once they've had time to be vetted.

And don't forget the super cap.:):)

Fair price for that beastly boy.
500GBer are what now, $300-350ish for the M4?

In most cases they're still $350-400. I think I paid $450 for mine last spring, so they haven't dropped all that much. Hence this is a pretty rockin' product.
While still a little expensive, this could actually be the only drive you need for many users. With that kind of capacity a secondary storage drive really isn't even necessary beyond saving image back-ups.

Also hoping that this will become a driving force for more affordable high capacity SSDs on the market. :)
