I've been searching around and have only picked up bits and pieces. Can anyone weigh in on the picture quality of a CRT on a dual-dvi card using the included DVI-VGA converter?

Or am I really better off buying a dedicated DVI-A to VGA cable? Monoprice has one that looks good but I'm not sure on the quality and could use some recommendations. Monoprice Cable

It's a NEC FE2111SB and I'll probably have it running at 1600x1200 or 1920x1440.

Well, you might have seen my posts on the matter. To be honest, I searched message boards on other forums and I can't find anyone with the experience I've had....which is that for text reading the DVI to dsub converter plug creates a more noisy screen that hurts my eyes when reading text. I purchased a DVI-A to dsub cable (not a plug but a cable with DVI-A on one end and dsub on another) and it doesn't solve the problem with my fe2111sb (using a 7900gtx card). BTW, I had to order that online as no B&M store near me had it. I haven't found a solution to this problem. Gaming is not an issue....just reading text.

I have been useing the Cables from here with no problem

The cables from Monoprice are usually of good quality, i haven't had issues with any of the DVI or HDMI cables i've ordered from them yet.

I haven't had a problem with using DVI->VGA adaptors in terms of quality degradation either.
You should try it out with the adaptor first to see if buying the cable is actually necessary. Most of the problems i see are with poor quality VGA cables than anything else.

Alright, sounds good. :) Thanks for the advice guys, hopefully one of the Dsub cables I have laying around is thick enough to fit the bill.

Make sure it is DVI-A to d-sub. And use a cable rather than a plug. These perform better IMO. I think I tried all combos available.
