Crt's extinct

where were all you CRT diehards when I tried to unload my 21" Dell CRT. I had no room for it anymore so it went to the dumpster :(

CRTs don't tend to ship well outside of their original packaging. :(

The only two FW900s (24" widescreen CRT) I have been satsified with I picked up myself.

I'd be willing to spend as much as $1600-2000 on a 24-26" modernized widescreen CRT. Can you imagine the image quality of the FW900 when it was actually new rather than these used and abused ones we have to nurse back to health? Not to mention that they might be able to work HDMI, display port, and other modern connectivity into the mix. Inky blacks, pure CRT color, non-native resolutions, super-fine dot pitch. . . one can only dream. Because it's 99.9% sure never to happen. :(

I could not agree with you more. The FW900 is getting harder and harder to find too. About a year and a half ago, I managed to pick up a 34XBR970 for $549 on closeout. I wish I had bought two. While it is huge and weighs nearly 200 lbs, I love using it for my 360. Unfortunately, the 970 does not have the superfine pitch of the previous 960 but it still shines IMO. Also, it was stripped of PIP--though I don't see myself desiring that functionality too frequently.
 
I agree, a slim down revised version of the high end crt's fw900 , or Mitsubishi 2070sb , or Nec monitors would sell like hot cakes- at least to alot of enthusiast.

Hey , you still have people that like old cars that use too much gas- but have a roar that sets off car alarms. Not very efficient, but still fun.
 
Agree with topicstarter.

I would like a 22" 2048x1536 @ 85 Hz x2 on my desktop. Flat front, lower energy consumtion then previous series, everything better :D

And: perfect viewing angles and nog #$%^&*(*&^ inputlag.
 
I do not worry about the death of CRT since I know they are somewhere in CRT heaven...
