I take that it is a bad thing if you have to set your horizontal stretch to 100% for the screen to be completely full with content. I have a dell p992 19" CRT and the sides of the screen have been getting shorter. Obviously this is not right, just thought I would include it. My real problem is that I am experiencing a lot of brightness flickering when I go from darker colored backgrounds to lighter colored ones. It is subtle but definitely noticeable. Any ideas? Fortunately I have a loving family member that is going to buy me an lcd in the near future. (when the new faster ones are supposed come out in late spring)

It might be the horizontal sync-circuit which is dying, together with some other parts.

You'd definitely need to have an expert take a look at it if you want to fix those issues, and even then it might not even be possible, or very cheap.
