Hey Im moving from CRT to LCD. My CRT is going fuzzy. Itll go fuzzy for anywhere form a few seconds to an hour or more and randomly go back to normal.

Anyway Im running an older rigger

AMD 64 3400
3 gigs ram
nvidia geforce 7900gs

Im looking to spend under $200 for a decent monitor that will be good for gaming. I play HL2, COD4, BF2, mainyl shooter and do alot of video watching on my monitor. Im thinkign 19" widescreen at the minimum and 22" max.

I just dont want to buy a piece of junk so Id appreciate any help someone can offer.

Here is the non ultrasharp version of the one posted earlier, 22" for $170, killer deal although I think you would much enjoy the ultrasharp, my 24" ultrasharp is the greatest purchase I have made in the last 3 years...

If you had your heart set on one of the 3 you linked definitely get the most monitor for your money and skip the last 2...

I was looking for something under $200
He steered you in the right direction. You're coming from a CRT, you didn't want some crappy LCD, therefore you're looking for an IPS-based LCD like the Dell 2209wa. Call up a Dell rep, work some verbal magic and he'll give it to you for $212 shipped (many here have been doing just that ;)). If you get a stubborn Dell rep, hang up and call back to get a different sales rep.

An IPS monitor is well worth the extra $12 over a lower quality TN panel (like the ones you linked at Newegg)

That's not the same panel, it's an overpriced TN.

I understand that it is a TN panel, thats why I said he would be happier with the ultrasharp, as far as being overpriced, I think $170 is a nice price for a 22" and for $60 less than the ultrasharp it falls in the original requested price. As far as the "magic" with a Dell rep YMMV, I guess it is possible to get a great deal but I would by no means be expecting it. If you get a good deal then get the ultrasharp if not then go with the other one that is within your range...

Save your allowance for a few more weeks and pick up the 2209wa. You'll be doing yourself a favour

Dont expect it to be nearly as smooth in game as your CRT monitor, 60hz is not good for gaming unless you're just a casual player.

Also OP, take info like this with a grain of salt. The vast majority of people don't even notice. This way of thinking is severely outdated.

If you 'compete' in any sort of online game, other then playing on pub servers, expect to be at a disadvantage. The only suitable replacement for a crt for gaming currently, is one of the two 120hz lcd monitor options out there.

Ok, I figured that this might happen...

Do you really think the majority of online gamers are still using CRT's? I any the vast majority of others are perfectly fine with competitive FPS gaming on LCD's.

Please, do not overthink this which is what you are beginning to do.

Yeah overthinking sucks....and im a pretty worrysoem individual to start lol.

anyway so the Dell 2209wa is my best bet price wise?
