CRT Resolution Issue

I recently picked up a NEC FE1250+. The monitor can display up to 2048x1536, but only NV Control panel can see this. Windows 7 itself and video games do not see/won't let me select anything above 1600x1200. Any reason for this?

I manually selected the driver when updating and I don't think/can't find a windows 7 compatible driver to download for it.

Try setting the EDID manually to the monitors maximum resolution/hz? 1600x1200 is usually a stock EDID maximum and games use that to determine what resolutions to offer upto.

Search this forum for the super-long Sony GDM-FW900 thread. I still use an FW900 CRT and turn to that thread often for good information. If you're using a CRT monitor with a modern OS and video card, you need to read through that thread!

I ended up pulling the EDID pin out of my VGA cable, which then lets me use a custom monitor.inf file that unlocks all resolutions and refresh rates. Even then, to get all possible resolutions to show up in Catalyst Control Center, I edited some registry values; which I learned in that thread. nVidia's drivers handled custom resolutions and refresh rates much better, at least a couple years ago when I was using a GeForce 8800 Ultra.

I removed the EID already and in games I can only get up to 1600x1200 as well as in windows, but NV control panel will let me to higher. Basically I can go as high as I can on the desktop, but when it comes to game res I can't go higher than 1600x1200.

I have powerstrip, but to make all the profiles it seems kind of drawn out to do. Maybe I'll just stop being lazy.

I edited the ps_mon.inf and now I can get black ops to 2048x1536.. I'll see how the other games go.
