my crt monitor flickers even when it's set at 100 Hz.anyone know why this would be? :(
 
I don't know for sure without seeing it in action but I would say you may be stressing it a bit, one indication may be an extreme amount of heat coming off it. That is, it would be hot enough to smell it, try turning it down to 85hz, that's fast enough for your eyes but easier on the CRT gun that refreshes everything. Tell me if there are any other symptoms, screen changes size for a moment without reason, crackling, popping, things like that.
 
Probably interference. Maybe an amplifier or some other electronic device close by.
 
could it be caused by the video card? my video card is quite old...and no there's not any problems with the screen resizing but when i shut my computer down there are popping noises that come from the monitor.
