Here is my problem:

The native resolution of my Viewsonic G810 CRT is 1600x1200, which makes for decent gaming at 85 Hz. When I am using the default Windows 7 display driver, it recognizes the native resolution of my screen correctly.

When I install the latest ATI drivers, it defaults to 1280x1024 and won't let me increase it in the ATI control panel or via powerstrip.

I am using a Sapphire 5870 Eyefinity 6 edition, and am connected via mini-displayport to full displayport adapter, then to my Sapphire active VGA adapter.

Any help is appreciated.
 
I *have* an ASUS 25.5" 1920x1200 LCD, but it's at home, as I'm staying up at school until I graduate in May.
 
If you use powerstrip to make a custom monitor driver, you can specify maximum resolution and refresh rates.

It's under monitor information in powerstrip, and the option to create a custom driver is in the bottom left.

Once the .inf is created, I leave it to you to figure out how to update the monitor driver.

get Rivatuner. Then go to the display info. Then use the get EDID. then make driver. Save it somewhere. you can edit the stuff when you use the EDID like set the min and max refresh rate to 85 aswell as the resolution. Just don't make it more than your monitor can handle. When your done save it somewhere. Now go to display properties. Then update driver then choose the inf file of the one you just made. Wolla your own monitor display drivers working better than the junk from windows.
