Hey folks

I've been scouring the net and seen reviews and threads on various forums about the various models, and of course they all have some good and some bad. I intend to get a 24" LCD, and I don't play any games at all, maybe once a month, and mainly want just a nice screen to use the computer and watch movies with.

I've been to Best Buy, Future Shop, Canada Computers and seen some of the displays and they all look great. I did notice poor viewing angles on the Samsung 245B compared to others in the line up. I am prepared to pay up to about $7-800, and I kind of narrowed it down to:

BenQ FP214WZ: http://www.ncix.com/products/productdetail2.php?noheader=1&sku=23033

LG 2146: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10084753&catid=

Samsung 244T: http://www.a-power.com/product-1053

Dell 2407WFP: http://accessories.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=biz&cs=calca1&sku=320-5647

Knowing my goal with the monitor, what would you folks recommend? If other model(s) is/are better, please share... TIA guys :)

If you're planning on buying a 24 inch screen make sure its a BenQ. Out of all 24'' monitors I tested the benq is the only one that has 0 input lag which is ideal for gamers.

Actually the BenQ has some major input lag, the LG L246WP has the least input lag out of the bunch with 1-1.5 frames lost on avg. The dell would be 2nd with 2 frames lost on avg touching 3 at times as with the BenQ (slightly higher) than, the Samsung leading in the back of the pack. I suggest that you consider the Planar PX2611W 26", practically no input lag S-IPS; around $999.99, and since its an SIPS it has great colour reproduction and its wide viewing angles are a treat for watching movies.

GET THE LG246, you can buy it at best buy for the same price as futureshop, better to buy an LCD at a brick and mortar store where returns are not a problem, no extra fees or refusals, zero dead pixels.

The LG is in my opinion the best 24 out there for the price especially, better than the benqs using the same lcd panel the benqs do. I am very satisified with this monitor it is LIGHT years better than the samsung 245, check the forums, THE LG IS GREAT

Yup, I called Dell and canceled the order, realizing that it's $853 shipped, and a 15% restocking fee if I return it. But I can grab the LG @ Future Shop for $684 taxes in and return it with no hassles should I need to. I saw it at FS today again and it's very nice :) Can't wait for the weekend.

What country are you in? I just got that Dell, from Dell, for $600 shipped.
