crt chemicals?

What sort of chemicals do monitors contain? Can they leak? would they work if they were leaking? Just curious since I was thinking about a news segment I saw a while back.
 
I'm pretty sure it's leaded glass, but that's not in a gas form. As for leakage, it's a vacum tube so I don't think there's anything in there as far as gases go. But watch out for the smoke from a burning capacator, that's pretty noxious.
 
The plastic case emits PCB's due to contact with air, just as other plastics do.
 
If you burn them, they are dangerous. There are some heavy metals in CRTs.
