Just got my new monitor Viewsonic P225f and text seems a little blurry at the top of the screen. Text in the middle looks great but as you get closer to the top of the screen it blurs a tad. It's running @ 1600x1200 75Hz and increasing the refresh rate up to 85Hz makes the text look worse. I tried w/ Cleartype on and off and there is a difference in text quality but it's still blurry. Going to 1280x960/1280x1024 helps but the res is too low for a 22" monitor ;) It's running on an ATI Radeon 9600xt and I had no probs on my 19" monitor but I never ran 1600x1200 on anything other than games. Any ideas for adjustments to correct this? Is it a bum monitor? Everything else looks great but this blurry text is ticking me off :mad:
 
I returned a Viewsonic P95F+ for similar reasons a couple years ago, it was blurry in the corners, for example the Time display in the bottom right corner was blurry yet text towards the center of the screen looked fine , I then found out the Dot pitch rating was actualy worse in the corners! So really nothing was wrong with the monitor (This was crappy design if you ask me, the monitor specs can be seen here) Luckily Newegg was nice about it and gave me a refund, I ended up paying $200 more for the 21" Sony G520P im using now but it was WELL worth it,it's perfectly focused corner to corner and looks much better overall. Aparently Viewsonic uses there own (cheaper) version of sony trinitron's apreture grille design wich I also didnt know about at the time.

@ Mathesar -> kind of what I was afraid of. It's getting REALLY hard to find CRT's now as most manufacturers have stopped making them or at least listing them on their websites :mad:

I dropped it down to 70 Hz and jacked w/ some of the settings and got it to look ok. That will work for now as I don't see a flicker at 70Hz. Might have to look for the focus adjustments and see what kind of damage I can do :eek: but I'm not gonna go cracking the case on this thing tonight.

Ive heard Lacie monitors are really good but havent used one myself,They're a bit pricey but are based on Diamondtron Flat Aperture Grille , Heres a 22" model:

The hood looks kind of funky but its removable.
