I haven't done this in years but last time, I believe I took a long running (already ran) crossover cable, coupled it (not using a crossover coupler) with another crossover and that allowed me to use it as normal cable. Is my recollection correct?

Case: long run crossover cable underground between 2 building. Need to introduce a router into the mix now. I just need a 2nd cable and a coupler correct? I suck with terminating ends so I dont want to cut a good cable.

The way it should have been run is run as straight through and only add cross over at either end as needed, but now is too late to change that probably... so yeah if you add another crossover, it should turn it back into a straight.

There are a ton of different revisions of that product but most of them support automatic MDI/MDI-X.

So if I were you I would just try it without couplers and cable.
