hi all.

the CROSSOVER 27" 27QW IPS . is this wonderful sounding but expensive monitor for *me*?

Now that this monitor can be bought now in "regular" online store favorite places, I am tempted.

I have right now a veiwsonic A90f+ crt maybe 20 inches. the image quality for photos has less of a "screen door effect" than even the 23" dell S2440L that I also have.
I was surprised at this otherwise wonderful Dell, as the pixel pitch must be so that my sensitive-to-effects can detect like I am looking through an old fashioned screen door if I get up close to look deeply at a photograph, and I *do* get up close.
viewsonic is getting old in years. but the dot pitch or pixel pitch, or what ever, has the viewsonic to actually look better.
[would this crossover have better pixel pitch than my viewsonic, at 27"?! which then would give a better overall image, the nice viewsonic crt or the crossover?]

I look at photos, do a lot of internet reading and play games. I like the games with vast vistas of scenery, over the "twitch" shooting games.

I have a ati 5770 video card with one gig of memory. windows 7.

I read that the 5770 does have dual link but I wonder how the frames per second hit will be at 1440 res?

I see that I can buy this crossover for under $400.

I have looked, at best buy, at the dell 27" monitor, not too expensive but still over $300, I found it, even with the showroom video loop, not to be worth the buy compared to what I now have.

I love the cinema display of the apple 27". a bit bright though, in the best buy store and gives to me eyestrain at that light level but the images look incredible!

I am 72 years old and I play games and take photos...never too old for "new" things.

On my disability pension, this Buy scares me a bit, thus I have to ask Questions first.

I was surprised that on certain mainstream review sites that the crossovers got often a 1 or a 2 out of 5 stars! no real explanation given, either.

===============
back again: I dug deeper into my video card. I have a sappire hd slim 5570. a list I found shows this card not to work with Korean monitors. others have shown this the card might or might not work. my poor e-machine processor too, might have trouble with a 1440 display. of course I could buy another card, yet more expense.

I would have to know if this card is ok before buying, at this moment.

can I increase the frequency up a bit with this model, like from 60 to 72 or 80. will this make much of a difference in my games?

thank you all for enduring yet another Question about the ever-growing list of monitors!

Sorry...I'm not very familiar with these monitors. Someone elsewhere in this forum pointed to this review of another such low cost monitor:

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/achieva_27_ips-zero-g.htm

which warns of contrast stability and luminance adjustability limitations...i.e., with regard to the latter -- too bright...

(No idea if the same applies to the Crossover though...)
