Crossfiring 7950 and 7970

After reading a review of 7950 I decided to crossfire 7950 with my 7970 because I know that a 5850 and 5870 can be crossfired.

Is there any reason why not to crossfire these 2 cards?

Also in future I'm considering watercooling about 2-3 months from now.

They will perform at the level of two 7950s. However, if you want to watercool, I would grab another 7970 as they are both a reference design and will be easier to find water blocks for.

Not true, they will run at their own independent clock speeds. Crossfire has supported hybrid formats like this for quite some time. You will get performance between that of 2x 7950s and 2x 7970s.

I would like to see some benchmarks of that. Would be interesting as I was considering the same thing later down the road.

I know my crossfire 6970+6950 performs each at their own max - when I'm bitcoin mining - the 6970 spits out 20 or 30Mhash more than the 6950 at the same clock speed.

Since the 7XXX series runs much cooler than 6XXX Id find it hard to justify watercooling them. Then again if I could afford a 7970+7950 maybe I wouldn't care.
