Crossfiring 4830 & 4770?

Considering purchasing a 4770 to use in another PC (HTPC) just because it looks like a nice combination of features, efficiency and performance. The HTPC currently has an 8800GTS that I'm going to give to a family member to make room.

But while I have both the 4770 and 4830 in the room together, I thought I'd try crossfiring them first on my gaming rig - the Gig UD3P in my sig. Has anyone run this combo before? I know that mis-matched cards tend to run at the pace of the slower one. In this case, will the 4830 gimp the 4770? It's possible if the combo ran extremely well, I'd just pick up another 4770... and then put the 4830 in the HTPC and have xfire'd 4770s. I've always considered dual GPU configs as not worth the trouble, heat, or expense... but maybe times have changed? Or maybe not. Thanks for any suggestions.
 
I would say no. Different core.

You might want to wait until the end of the month or early June as XFX has announced they will be releasing a version which exhaust the heat out the back of the card rather than into the case. An important feature for a card going into an HTPC, at least for me.
 
i dont see the point myself in Xfire / SLI 2 lower/mid range cards when a single card will be faster, just seems like a waste to me and just more headaches then it is worth (certain games working, others not et cetera)
 
Thanks for the info. I'll have to look at the new XFX card - thanks for the tip JaguarSKX. It would be nice if the card exhausted out the case - I have very little airflow in my HTPC.

I guess if I wanted more horsepower in my gaming PC, I should just move the 4830 over to the HTPC and get a more powerful single card to replace it. Maybe that means a 4870 or more likely, hold off until the more powerful set of 40nm cards come out.
