Crossfire'd 6970s and Overclocking

Im currently using a single 6970 for gaming at mostly 1920x1080 but have 3 monitors to run at 5760x1080 and have a few questions about getting a second 6970 for crossfire.

Now I can get a second 6970 used for $100 off a friend. (price is due to him oweing me a few favors)

I'm def gonna grab the card since its dirt cheap. But I have a few questions about overclocking both cards. Im thinking that even if I keep both cards at stock speed I should see a huge improvement in performance @ eyefinity resolutions and fps and be able to max out most settings. How much real performance will I see overclocking these cards to ~950/1450?
 
you're better off just overclocking them and seeing for yourself, its different for every person.
 
Overclocking a 6970 is worthless. You may get 2-5 fps gains here and there. Should be similar even in CFX configuration.
 
Yes I'm running 3 6970s in tri-fire and even overcclocking the cards by 50mhz on the core on all 3 cards is minimal and not noticeable.
 
I have a dual 6970 setup @ 950/1500.
Performance increase is not even noticeable over stock. Though my 3DMark11 GPU score jumped ~600points, so it is measurable.
