Kinda interesting you brought up the dual core CPU thing. First off, the cards dont need to "support" them. They will work right off, but games need to be able to take advantage of dual threads to allow the advantage of 2 physical processors. (the boost should be fantastic)

Age Of Empires III was recently confirmed to have full support to run dual threaded. First game i have heard of, thats coming out but it was quick enough.

*starts saving up for dual cores*

Guaranteed that is not legit unless that guy with dual Opties + SLIed NV workstation cards was behind it.

As good as AoE III may be.. it still wouldn't warrent paying twice as much for a dual core.. unless you went Intel *shrug*

Cool scores, glad to see some being released.

Personally I would have expected higher, since a single x850xt/pe score on average higher than a single ultra...but from the reviews they seem to be neck n neck. By the time ATI releases Crossfire out, SLI mb's/6800 Ultras will be going down in price.

Thats on the first supported betas that CrossFire can run on. You should be impressed its scoring so well so early....

Ummmm, do you have any clue how far SLI scores have come? I'll tell you this, compared to what ATi is showing now Nvidia was doing crappy then.

actually I don't since I don't use an sli rig, but from what I've read I'm just personaly not impressed. Plus after reading that you have to purchase the master gpu from ati directly is not something that I would be looking forward to. I was more impressed when sli came out then I am w/ ati's solution at the moment

The 3DMark05 scores shows Crossfire to not gain as much performance (+70%) as SLI (+80%) vs single cards. Maybe other DX games will do better.

Its on beta drivers for crying out loud. Do you really want to dig up the numbers for SLI when it first came out, guess what buddy, it was not great.

That's because it was on an Intel board...running slow memory...and an intel chip...the second they switched to nforce...they broke 9500...

I don't think it's at all unreasonable to think that Crossfire will be less efficient than SLi...I think that's kinda ATi's angle...not as much performance because their implementation is much "looser" for lack of a better word...but they throw in Super AA modes and greater compatibility...

I compared scores from the preview of 6800 Ultra SLI (vs single card using the same drivers) to the fastest stock x800XT PE vs ATI's numbers above. I think that was fair since those were both pre-release/first benchmark scores.

If anything it might give ATI a little boost because Cat5.6 beta might be faster than Cat5.5 in 3DMark05.
