I just got a new computer and I've been having fun with OCing the CPU and GPU to try and squeeze out every last bit of performance I can while keeping the temps/volts reasonable. I remember reading somewhere that someone had a crossfire setup with two different AMD HD generation cards. He was talking about the fact that one was his "physics" processing card, while the other did rendering, or something to that effect. I was wondering if this is indeed possible, or if there are any benefits to doing a crossfire in my situation.

Current Set-Up:
- Sapphire HD7950 OC @1050MHz GPU clock/ 1400MHz memory clock (stock voltage but with +20% power control in CCC)
- i5 2500k @ 4.6GHz
- 16GB PC1600 RAM
- Corsair M4 128GB SSD
- Corsair Professional Series Gold 750-Watt 80 Plus Gold Certified
- Gigabyte z77 UD5H motherboard

I have my old AMD HD 5870 which I was thinking about throwing into my system if there would be any benefit in doing so. I'm a total noob when it comes to crossfire and any help/tips/advice would be much appreciated, thanks!
