I have two cards on their way to my doorstep right now:

ATI Radeon X1900 CrossFire Edition PCI Express 512MB DDR3

and

Asus Extreme AX1800XT/2DHTV Radeon X1800 XT PCI Express 512MB DDR3

(Background story: I ordered the X1800XT as part of a very large order. Called to cancel THAT PART, and ZZF said (in a huff) "you can't do that. You'll have to send it back." A day later, I'm looking at the card on their site and it says "NO REFUNDS". BASTARDS. So anyway, I ordered the X1900 before I read the no-refund thing. Alas, I have 2 cards on the way.)

Will these two cards work fine together on this board:

MSI RD480 Neo2-FI Socket 939 ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 ATX AMD Motherboard

What are the upsides and downsides.

Thanks!

I don't believe that CrossFire supports differenct version GPU's: http://www.ati.com/technology/crossfire/faq.html

In Section 2A of this FAQ, ATI states:

A. A complete CrossFire system requires a CrossFire Ready motherboard, a CrossFire Edition graphics card and a compatible standard Radeon (CrossFire Ready) graphics card from the same series, or two CrossFire Ready cards if they are software enabled. This applies to cards from ATI or any of its partners.

You can't get them to allow you to upgrade the card?

Your mobo should be fine to support CrossFire, once you get the cards.
