Crossfire prototype drivers look promising.

Pcper did a write up on the upcoming drivers to fix crossfire.

While the results do look promising, it seems the gtx 7xx series will be here before they are able to fix it.

the prototype 2 is using the prototype driver while the large orange mass is not.

Funny they released the 7990 with knowing it sucks.

They knew the problem existed, people have been complaining about it since it became really noticeable in the 5xxx Eyefinity CF days, they just chose to ignore it for the sake of latency.

Very interesting and encouraging article. I'm glad AMD was willing to let this preliminary version of the new driver be tested so folks could see that they're actively working to address the concerns about Crossfire performance. I've actually been giving serious thought to getting a second HD7950, so it's good to see stuff like this.

Im still dreaming on the day where this darkside of Xfire/SLI (stuttering) dissapear or become really lowered the impact...

Wow, i would like to encourage anyone to go to the pcper article and, ignore the charts, download the raw 60fps videos and watch them side by side. The effect is VERY notorious.

Unfortunately these alpha drivers and most likely the first public release, will correct only single screen Crossfire and not Eyefinity.:(

Well this is a dream even higher than mine.. No worries when AMD/NVIDIA fix or reduce the darkside of the Xfire/SLI... They will improve drivers for eyefinity/surround... Im happy with the fact at least they are doing something to improve the experiencie with the stuttering and higher latency on frametime....

Farcry 3 is still the worst gaming experience i have ever had and im 38 years old, The game simply is almost unplayable on my 7970 Tri Fire setup.

I'd be curious to test them out in their final form (or at least final beta) on my 5870 E6's, I chucked those things back into their boxes because the serious MS issues that setup had.

ever run unigine heaven 3.0 on those in CFX? or even on 7970 CFX, the microstutter is insane towards the end of the benchmark (where the camera goes back towards the docked airship before the final two or three scenes)

Single monitor improvements. Still issues with Crossfire and multi-monitor to be addressed. It's always a... "wait for the next drivers" game with AMD.

Both brands there issues, one brand will have particular while other don't and vice versa.

Nvidia still has issues with Vsync stuttering to be addressed. It's always a... "wait for the next drivers" game with Nvidia

We could pick on individual issues all day long, there is nothing to be gained unless someone is trying to post in a way to imply that a brand don't have any or have some long outstanding issues of there own..

Been running various nvidia based setups in surround here from 2 x 275's, 2 x 570's and now 2 x 670FTW's and I've never seen a cracker of microstutter - Vsync works fine here, adaptive vsync without the use of a third party application is fantastic in SP games.

It was a widely reported issue in Eyefinity though, especially with the 5xxx series of ATi cards, People complained, ATi did nothing. Now we find AMD saying 'oh, but we were favoring latency'....Yeah, right....

I doubt the 7990 will sell at all. This is just yet another reson I have stayed away from AMD since the 4870 days.

Having had both 7970 Crossfire and GTX 670 SLI, Nvidia is clearly the better experience for multi-monitor, multi-GPU. It's not even close.

There is not a game yet I've played with GTX 670 SLI that I haven't been able to get smooth playable settings. Hell, in Skyrim with just one HD 7970 there was stuttering all over the place.

AMD drivers and game support are abysmal.

The bold part is making the valid point about a particular issue the rest is not because the rest is just FUD and can be used against nvidia for someone who is experience an issue on NV cards that they are not on AMD cards, hence why its wise not to use a particular issue to generalise the brand overall when the other brand also has issues of its own and could be equally generalise over all.

There are plenty of issues with NV cards that people are waiting to be fixed maybe your browser blocks you from going to https://forums.geforce.com/default/board/33/geforce-drivers/ to see them.

Horrible Kepler 2D performance still not fixed
Many users noticed random horizontal screen tearing when playing full screen videos, Flash videos, or moving large pictures over the screen, since the Kepler cards (GTX 650 and up) entered the market.
The faster scene, the more noticeable tearing.

In May 2012, nVidia promised to fix this issue and look more deeply into the Kepler architecture, to solve the mentioned terrible 2D desktop performance.

Event the oldest video card from nVidia, like Geforce 2 or 4 perform better, i.e. play video smoothly without horizontal tearing.

It's nearly one year after the nVidia's proclamation, but the issue is still not fixed. The Kepler chip based cards perform still bad in 2D, like no HW acceleration is enabled. Some users thought that it is a vsync issue, but the problem is in the driver itself. Even with Win7+Aero the tearing occurs, not only in Win XP.

I tried all driver versions from 306.23 to 314.22, but the problem persists.

nVidia's main goal is to improve 3D performance in new games, but the 2D performance - which is more important for most users than just gaming - is overlooked.

Will there be ever released a driver for Kepler based cards, which will perform better in 2D than the very first video cards ever made? Who knows. I personally doubt it. I am nearly decided to pull the vNidia GTX 650 out of the PC and get back to the integrated Intel HD, which performs in 2D fluently.

Problems with Battlefield 3 aka BF3 since 306.97 driver? Please post here...

You're wrong if you tought that somebody from Nvidia will even care about your BF3 issues.
I'm in the same boat as you,i have the same graphics card and i hope for better drivers, but that moment is so far to see...
Please take this as a kindly advice: next time, when you will upgrade your graphics,go for AMD - they have much better drivers and customer support. At least from my side,i am very sure that i will never buy an Nvidia card in the future!
Take note that i had only Nvidia graphics in my rig, since 2006. Right now i regret the moment when i bought GTX 670 and ignore my friends advice about Radeon 7970 option.

Yes, i am hoping that NVIDIA will take care of BF3.

I could punch myself in the face for going from AMD to NVIDIA 1 year ago.

One year ago i had a 6770 from AMD and wasnt having any problems. I was just dumb to believe that a NVIDIA card would be better ;o(

GTX Titan / 320.00 Beta

Tomb Raider, crazy microstutter. (Rolled back to 314.09, smooth as silk)
Battlefield3, online game still stutters. Every driver for Titan has done this for me.
306.97 was the last driver I ever played BF3 smoothly. And that was with GTX670. *sigh*

WTF!!! dead space 3 in this driver its broken!!!!

in the previous driver works perfect, but this gives very many less fps in the same menu you can see,

and I still cant play decently or battlefield 3 for the stuttering, or rage ... from 306.97 ... DRIVERS ARE INCREASINGLY WORSE

what the hell happens to the dead space 3 with this driver? Before 60 frames, now fallen to 24 fps!
NVIDIA drivers and game support are abysmal. It's always a... "wait for the next drivers" game with NVIDIA

Its silly to attach such tags to particular issues when they could be attached to any issue for both brands.
