I'm really looking forward to upgrading to the 7970 soon, and looking at the crossfire reviews posted in the other thread really got me dreaming of future upgrades. My question is: what kind of performance problems, if any, would I see from my motherboard(msi p55-gd65) with crossfire and the PCIe specs of the board? If I understand this correctly, this board will run one slot at 16x and the other slot at 8x.

My little bit of googling shows that there is not much of a performance hit with 8x PCIe slots, but that information comes from almost 2 years ago

If I remember right, those P55 slots aren't full speed PCIe 2.0 either, but are actually half speed. If so, there could be an issue running 7970s at that link speed (what would effectively be PCIe 2.0 x4). Normal PCIe 2.0 x8x8 (like a P67 or Z68 board) wouldn't likely be a problem, but it might be on the P55 board. Might want to wait and see if there are any reviews before you jump.
