Crossfire not maxing 6870's BF3

Hey guys,

Just wondering if it were normal for the second card in a crossfire setup to lag a bit in games? its only in BF3 ive noticed it, but the second card GPU usage will jump between 80-100% in AfterBurner while the primary card is close to pegged. Using 11.12 drivers right now as they seem pretty stable. Has anyone else run into this? normal?
 
My card's utilization are sync'ed but I'm running 7970s. I think if it plays fine in BF3 then there's really nothing to worry about.
 
Yeah it plays just fine, but im just wondering why they might be out of sync, I had thought possibly driver issues or maybe the clocks on the RAM are too high, and its ECC might be kicking in? im playing at 2560x1440 so they should both be pegged right?
 
If you have vsync it will not peg both cards, if i enable vsynch i'll do about 60-80% on both 6970s. kill vsynch and frame limiter and you should be pegging both.
 
Just curious, but what settings can you use with your x-fire? I just started x-firing my 6870s and I can't max out BF3. I play single player with 4x aa for smoothness, and even then, it has some slowdowns.
 
At 2560x1440 turn off aa, and just use postaa at medium, turn off motionblur and use ssao not hbao...I use this with everything else set to ultra and get good frames. My cards are sitting at 980/1180 for reference.
