will crossfire work with Nforce 4?
i dont know if i should buy the asus a8n-sli if crossfire wont work with nforce 4

I am not 100% sure but I think you will need a new special ATI chipset based board for it at launch, but there has been talk about crossfire working on SLI boards as well. However, it's speculation at best. Personally, I don't think it's going to happen. I think you will need a special motherboard for the crossfire stuff to work. On the other hand, Nvidia might let them do it to sell more of their motherboards as they are much better than the fledgling ATI chipset based motherboards.

Yeah if you want crossfire I would wait until they announce what is actually needed for it. I have already bought an A8NSLI, so I guess I will be going down the 7800 route, but best of luck with the crossfire thing.

Technically Crossfire and SLI both would work on any chipset that supports two pci-e graphics slots. (remember back when early SLI demos were given using xeons on intel chipsets?) But because of that whole brand-loyalty thing ati is likely (and nvidia already has, I think) to program the drivers to only work on certain chipsets. I guess it all depends on how nice ati wants to be with their drivers.

as far as i know it wont.
nvidias sli needs nforce 4 to wrok right
ATi's crossfire needs the ati express 200(i think thats what it is called, not sure)

If i remember an article correctly they are tried (trying) to get crossfire to work on the new intel 955x chipsets... i can try to dig that article up....

i think it's crossfire only as well, but if they could get it to work on any board, then imagine how many happy people there would be that went out and bought an sli board but didn't want to go with nvidia for graphics!

If you want Crossfire you have to wait for a Crossfire motherboard.

If you want SLI you can buy the A8N-SLI now for Nvidia cards (6600GT, 6800, 6800GT, 6800U, 7800GTX)

No, because it requires bios support. the board has to specifically allow it thus only crossfire edition boards.
