Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
it has more to do with the mobo chipset, ATI and NV want you to use their chipsets, SLI and CrossFire are more of a package/platform kind of deal, at least for now
ATI can make Crossfire work on NF4 any time they want. No technical reasons why it cant, just drivers that forbid it.
Installed base of NF4's > 5 MILLION
Installed base of CS3200 based motherboards.... a few thousand maybe.
Which one would sell more X1900's? The anwaer is obvious... BOTH, let the video card group sell video cards, platform independent, and the motherboard group can fend for themselves.
The motherboard chips would end up NEEDING to be better than its competition, and the video card sales would cut hard into NV's market share.
Instead, lets leave this huge incentive to buy NV cards for all the NF4 systems, so NV gets to sell 2x NV video card for each NF4, rather than ATI selling 2x 1900 for each NF4.
Brilliant plan.... if you are NVidia's marketing dept. ATI is brain dead in the marketing dept. They should be a defense contractor, or a auto maker, they'd fit right in.
