I have been reading this forum for years but my horrible experience with crossfire and Far Cry 3 has compelled me to post. Any help or advice from you guys would be appreciated. Has anyone else here had similar experiences with Far Cry 3 and crossfire?
Crossfire works acceptably with every game I have tried except Far Cry 3.
The problem:
Only occurs in dx11 mode
Low GPU2 usage
Extreme Stuttering at any framerate
Gradual degeneration into prolonged periods of extremely low framerates (10-20fps) followed by Far Cry 3 crashing to desktop (not a system crash or driver crash).
Diagnostics/Attempted and failed solutions:
Re-seating the GPUs
Disabling all OCs and using default mobo and GPU settings ( these have never caused any problems before )
Tested each GPU individually
Reinstalling GPU drivers, the right way ( http://www.brightsideofnews.com/new...ompletely-uninstall-amd-graphics-drivers.aspx )
Tried afterburner framerate limiter
Other thoughts:
Edited out my preemptive bashing. Still kinda miss the consistency of my old SLI'd GTX 470 setup though.
Problem solved by changing D3D11MultithreadedRendering="1" to D3D11MultithreadedRendering="0" in the GamerProfile.xml file. This file can be found in "...\Documents\my games\Far Cry 3"
System info:
Asus Sabertooth x79
3960x
MSI lightning r7970 Ghz ed
Asus Reference 7970 with Accelero Xtreme 7970 cooler
Windows 8
